Leo Deck – Swiss Lakes and Landscapes
30.9.1908 Bern - 1.6.1997
The Swiss painter Leo Deck studied in Paris at La Grande Chaumière and participated in his first group exhibit in 1945 in a show of “Young Artists of Bern” together with JRudolf Mumprecht, Ricco and Fritz Ryser. His work is in the tradition of the landscapes of Ferdinand Holder and Cuno Amiet, but he took particular interest in depicting the landscape of Switzerland’s lakes and the surrounding regions. Deck’s Switzerland is a landscape of flat horizontal planes, marshes, sailboats, still waters.
