The Brazilian artist Arthur Louis Piza moved to Paris in 1951 and since 1958 has worked primarily as an engraver. He developed a unique printing process using thick copperplates in which the deep, sculpturel grooves create engravings with a high relief.
Piza is listed in the Benezit and his work can be found in major museums including the Victora and Albert Museum in London and the MOMA and Guggenheim museums in New York.
The Pinacoteca do Estado de São Paulo (State Modern Art Museum of Sao Paulo) mounted an acclaimed restrospective of Piza’s work in December 2015.
