Handcolored “Outline Engraving” or “Umriss Radierung. In this style of engraving, just the outlines of the image are engraved. The engraving is intended to be handcolored colored by an artist, and so very little shading is actually engraved into the plate. The tones are added by tinting the image with color afterwards. The result is a joint artwork created by the engraver and the colorist.

This plate has been cut. It is matted under an old handpainted french mat. It is not framed.
