Swiss Army Standard Bearer – Uniforms after the Ordonnanz of 1852
A handsome Swiss army standard bearer with a moustache and carrying the Swiss flag in a lithograph illustrating the new costumes of the Ordonnanz of 1852, a government act which created, for the first time standard uniforms for all of Switzerland. Up until that date the different Swiss cantons, or states, each had their own military uniforms.
