The painter, printmaker and textile artist Ursula Fischer-Klemm was born in Berlin as the daughter of a Prussian officer. She studied at Johannes Itten’s “Modernen Kunstschule” in Berlin and later at the Vereinigten Staatschulen fuer freie und angewandte Kunst, where she met her husband, the artist Hans Eric Fischer. Her work was deeply influenced by Hans von Marées and Karl Hofer. In 1934 she moved with her husband from Berlin to Dottikon in Switzerland.
